As a pre-warning for our readers, be prepared that this post may cause a slight increase in the need to go shopping! And goodness knows that we, at Chalkboard China, have a growing “appreciation” of shopping. As summer is prime shopping season, we figured we would share some of our favorite local boutiques that are unlike stores anywhere else.

The next time you’re out and about shopping in the DFW area, be sure to stop by these boutiques for fab finds, amazing apparel and gorgeous gifts:

Nadeau

Their motto is “Furniture with a Soul” as their pieces aren’t found in big chain stores. With less than 20 stores, Nadeau has unique furniture that are never mass-produced so you’re getting one-of-a-kind pieces that will bring luxury and beauty to your home. Furniture available at Nadeau isn’t just your typical furniture either, it truly is an art form. Designers at Nadeau spend their time traveling the world for inspiration to bring back to you. And don’t think we’re the only ones who adore Nadeau, this shop has also been noticed by Apartment Therapy, Refinery 29, New York Shopping Magazine and so many more!

Milk + Honey

If you like Anthropologie (which we totally love), then you will LOVE Milk + Honey! You’ll adore the look and feel of the store as it’s like a backyard garden, cozy living room and extensive walk-in closet all in one. The store exhumes earthy vibes from each piece included and you’ll find everything from trousers, to boho dresses, to chunky jewelry and everything in-between. You’ll also see all kinds of colors, patters, looks, fabrics and trends to please your shopping needs. Plus, Milk + Honey has already been on the radar of many and has been spotlighted by D Magazine, DFW Style Daily and other fashion forward blogs. And get this, it’s all run by a 25-year-old! So fab!

Original Octane

This place has everything and we mean EVERYTHING! Men’s and women’s clothing, jewelry, vintage home décor and furniture — it’s basically a one-stop shop for everything any gift giver or stylish shopper could want. Not only does it carry local designers (which we love to support), but it also has major luxury brands like 7 For All Mankind and Current Elliot. If you consider yourself a fashionista, this IS the Dallas boutique for you.

REUSE Jeans

Just one thing we love about this Dallas-based boutique is their eco-friendly and environmentally aware mindset. Their name, REUSE, stands for “Recycle. Environment. U. Save. Earth.” and their denim is made from recycled textiles that have been shredded back to raw cotton. Another neat fact? Their jeans can’t be found in retailers anywhere else. REUSE Jeans also has an in-house designer that designs handbags, shorts and other seasonal items to complement any environmentally conscience shopper.

The Wooden House

Sometimes you don’t have to have opulent furniture to make a statement in your home and The Wooden House proves just that! Many of their pieces are repurposed, vintage and from all over the world, which helps to create a story around each piece you bring home. This Dallas-based home decor boutique has been featured in acclaimed magazines like the local D Magazine and Luxe, as well as the green-inspired Standard Magazine. If you want something that is one-of-a-kind and inspires a creative design, then The Wooden House should be your next shopping spot. (We love that they have oversized chalkboards, too! So fun!)

We hope this post helps you piece together your next local shopping adventure! And don’t forget to stop by some more of our hometown faves, The Gypsy Wagon and Neiman Marcus.
