Chalkboard China People We Admire Emilly Johnston Larkin EJ Interiors

Interior designer, blogger and fellow Dallasite, Emily Johnston Larkin, has a way with interior spaces and has found a way into our hearts! Emily is the owner of EJ Interiors located in the same home as Chalkboard China, Dallas, Texas. Her interior design firm takes care of the entire design of a room, with anything from furniture, to art, to lighting and more. Emily and her team are dedicated to helping businesses and individuals create captivating and inspiring environments for work and play. She has an extensive portfolio as she has experience in movie theater design, home staging, and even fashion merchandising.

Emily is also the executive editor and one of the founders of the fabulous blog, Material Girls. So fab in fact, House Beautiful recently named it one of their “Sites We Love.” Material Girls gathers top designers from major cities across the nation to share their design inspiration. It’s a great place to find design ideas from coast to coast and an opportunity to pick the brain of five interior designers specializing in anything from kitchens to environmentally-friendly designs. What’s not to love?

Besides her affinity for organizing, Emily loves designing with mirrors. She says that every room needs a little “sparkle”, which can easily be achieved by incorporating metallics and mirrors throughout the space. We love how she mixes bold patterns with even bolder mirrors. (She’s even used mirrored furniture before!) We agree that mirrored surfaces are a great way to open up a smaller space and give the room some character with “sparkle”. It’s also fun for a chic tabletop setting!

It seems we aren’t the only ones who admire Emily’s talent and work. One of the shops we dig, Joss and Main, recently showed Emily’s blog, Material Girls, some love, too! It’s easy to see why we all admire her so much by checking out the Material Girls blog or connecting with her on Facebook.

Do you share Emily’s love of mirrors? Have you ever used a mirror as a statement piece? Give us the details in the comments below!
